I would like to take this moment to tell you that I have stayed uncaring and ignorant of deviantART's policies for too long. I've been intending to review them in recent times, but a link in a friend's journal finally made it happen.

At first it seems like a lot of bullshit about Jark. At first it seems like more rioteering for community. Please read all the way through it, please, if you care about your work in any way.

Right now, I'm deleting everything I have on here. Tonight, I'm going to ask about my family attourney. And after that... I will find the loophole in the Submission Agreement. Because any contract that states it take three hard-copy methods to terminate the agreement, is relatively normal. but any contract that states that even after said termination, that anything you ever put on this site is still theirs to use as they please. Any pictures of you, your friends, your pets, anything you've ever said about yourself, about anyone you've loved. Any bit of creativity you've poured your heart into or errantly made, drawn, forged, written, slaved over, hinted at, loved, and hated--is theirs now, if it touched this website.

If you want, go ahead and go find the untouched copy of the Agreement, to ensure that the person above did not alter it to make a point.

And when I find that loophole, ladies and gentlemen, I will tell you all.

Update #1:

Before going to an attourney, I've decided to drop the 'Submissions Agreement' by my friend James, who is in law school. Now, I realize he isn't going to know everything about law, but he's going to be able to, at least, give me some idea if this bullshit is plausible and legal, and whether or not I should pursue it at all.

In the meantime, there is very good news.

There is an alternative to deviantART.

It's called SheezyArt ([link]). I've read over the 'Terms of Service', as well as the 'Submissions Agreement' and it is clean, my friends. The only possible hitch is that it states that the 'Submissions Agreement' will change without notice and that it is your responsibility to check it on a weekly basis to see if anything has changed, and therefore, don't wish to agree to it.

The 'SA' was short and sweet and mostly dealt with keeping Sheezy safe from the stupid assholes of the internet world. I hardly think it's a bad idea for people to have to check on the Agreement and remind themselves what they're agreeing to.

Please spread the word about this safer alternative. And please, move there instead of sticking around here because you don't want to lose the people you've got, the feedback, and everything else. Make them move with you, dammit.
